Friday Favorites: Shine and Sparkle Edition and Giveaway!!

It's Friday, y'all!
I'm linking up again today with:

This weeks favorites will be short and sweet as we're headed out for a weekend full of dance shenanigans.

Yesterday, I joined Ava's class on her last field trip of Kindergarten.  Field trips are kind of my favorite and spending QT time with my cuties is absolutely a fav.  We loved the zoo and I can't wait to get the whole family there.  It's really neat we have such a fun spot just a few miles from our home (and I had NO idea).

After school, my Dad showed up from Arkansas!  Retirement looks good on him, doesn't it??!  I'm sure I've driven him crazy calling more than my usual each day, but it's good to know he is staying busy and enjoying his days off!

Oh these two!  Sweet, sweet bond.  And she loves his hugs!

I've been looking for quite some time for the perfect magazine for my girls so when the managing editor of  SHINE brightly and Sparkle Magazines contacted me last month and asked if my girls and I would review their publication, I jumped at the chance.

Growing up I always LOVED getting the new Teen Bop, but today those magazines are a little different (and I was hopefully a little older).  The content, the pictures, even some of the stars are just not really appropriate for my girls age groups.  Both girls LOVE getting mail, love looking at magazines, but I've felt like I needed to censor way too much so we just refrained.  I wasn't necessarily looking for a Christian girls magazine.  In fact, I didn't even think there would be one to be an option.  But what I was looking for was one that would cater to their different age groups.  Something wholesome, inspirational, something they could grow with, and obviously something with content that was relevant and fun.  There is nothing more relevant than encouraging our daughter's in who they are in Christ.

Anna Claire said she loved Shine brightly magazine because, "they were fun to read and they have good life lessons in them."  The fashion pages and Dear Annie sections were her favorites.  She also said, "the activity pages are a lot of fun and most point me to scripture and how to be a good friend."

Ava said, "my favorites were the scavenger hunts, the stories, reading God's lessons to us, and activity pages."  She even wowed us by reading not just the Sparkle magazine (for ages 6-8), but also the Shine brightly magazine her sister reads (for ages 9-14).  It's hard not to want to keep up with your big sister though.  ;-)

My favorite was the version for younger girls and a version for older girls (especially since I have two who fall in each age group). I loved how everything points back to being a servant leader, a good friend, and encourages these girls to just get out their Bibles and seek truth.  Growing up is hard, made even harder by the times our children are growing up in.  Both magazine take the truth we teach and pray over their lives and make it relevant, but in a girlie package.

I'm super excited to have found these magazines and I am even more excited that I get to offer a FREE subscription to one of these magazines as a giveaway today!
